Typically, no, the IUB Libraries do not purchase textbooks. There are, however, a number of ways that a required class text might be available through the library:

  1. Your instructor has set aside a physical copy using Class Reserves.
  2. The book is available through IU Libraries as an ebook.
  3. The required text is not a traditional textbook but is a text that we have acquired as part of our normal collection development process (such as literary text like a novel or popular nonfiction book).
  4. Occasionally, there will be older editions of textbooks that have been donated and added to the collection.

The best way to discover whether books listed on your syllabus are available is to search for the title in IUCAT, the library catalog.
